Bring on the loud cymbals, exploding firecrackers and lion dances!!! Though I really won't be experiencing any of them this year, the memory will still live on in my head. Like the memory of when we went to Penang one CNY, eons ago, and my paternal grandma absolutely refused to let the lion dance in front of the house. I think I cried. And then cheered up when all us kids got ice cream and had some fun squashing ourselves into my cousin's toy car, one of those small one that have to be pedalled. I bet I wouldn't even be able to fit both my feet into that car anymore, let alone my body. Ahh, happy days.
Oh, before I get carried away....
恭喜发财!HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! 新年快了!
And yes, I do know what the Chinese characters say. I may be a noob, but I'm not that much of a noob. :)
So this year there isn't any loud, noisy to the point of being annoying, music, but I got enough of that when I went to Jusco in December. Hearing the same song being played over and over again has fulfilled my yearly dosage.
To all my readers, hope you have a happy and prosperous new year, regardless of whether you celebrate this festival or not, because goodwill and happiness is entitled to all, not just to us Chinese.
And just because it's the year of the Tiger doesn't mean we can all go out and do a Tiger Woods, because they're just not the same. So don't even think about it.

I've slapped myself about 10 times today. No, not to wake myself up, because my biological clock certainly took care of that for me, but because I swore. Superstition says you're not supposed to. And I believe superstition. And if I didn't slap myself, my mum or sis would have been happy to.
Slap no.1 was born when I accidentally ate those dinky little deep fried prawn popias. LOVE them.
Mum: Hey, we're supposed to be vegetarian today! Me: Oh shit! *quickly crunches up the one in my mouth and slaps myself.* Me: Oh shi- I swore! *slaps myself again.*
Call me a ditz sometimes, I don't mind. In fact, you could call me a ditz, a klutz, and anything else that ends with a -tz.
Going to my mum's cousin's house later. As soon as my parents and sis come back from their walk, though they're most likely flying. I mean, I'm getting blown off the chair just sitting next to the window.
And I have a physics test tomorrow, which I'm totally freaking out for because my brain just isn't processing textbook information. So it's lucky I have my sister's old notes. Which really say the exact same thing as in the textbook.
Today shall just be about the current obsession in my life right now: basketball.
Shocked?
It will be until the others start school, then my basketball season is over.
Today's game was probably the most interesting one out of all of them. How many have I played so far...? To count... 4. Which is weird, because I feel like I've been playing everyday, when I really haven't.
Anyway... today. Today was the funnest. And also the day with the most casualties. We also played with a total stranger. ;)
*All written in third person. Casualty #1: Yin and Ai Ai saw the ball coming. She also saw Yin coming at her. She jumped, and so did Yin. They both collided in the air, Ai's hip hitting Yin's hip hard. She caught the ball while Yin stumbled off to one side, clutching her hip and moaning. It hurt like hell.
Casualty #2: Nisa and Hsien Annisa stared at the boy that had just entered the basketball court. He seemed familiar to her somehow, yet she couldn't place where she had seen him before. If she had ever seen him before. He looked like one of her friends. Hsien thought that Nisa was staring at her, because the boy was behind her, and she threw the ball at her. Nisa saw the ball coming, acting quickly to catch it, but it slipped through her fingers and hit her in the mouth. And she wore braces.
Casualty #3: Loong and Wen Loong was caught. Ai was right in front of him, waving her hands in front his face to block him. He saw an opening with Wen right in the middle of it. He took the chance and passed the ball to her. She missed it and it hit her in the mouth. "We're all cursed!" yelled Yin. "Nisa has cursed us! Jampi!" She couldn't stop laughing.
Casualty #4: Ai and Yin (again!) Ai and Yin went for the ball. Ai caught it but Yin knocked it out of her hand. They both lunged towards it, and Ai stumbled and fell. She'd grazed her knee a bit but it didn't hurt that much. "That's karma," said Yin with a smile, pulling her to her feet. She then ran to the hoop and scored.
Casualty #5: Nisa and Ai (Poor Ai!) Nisa saw an opening and threw the ball to Ai. Ai wasn't prepared for it, she was thinking about other things, mainly on getting past the opponent in front of her. As Nisa threw the ball to her, she ran forward. The ball slid past her and hit her right in the chest. It hurt like hell. She massaged it, trying not to look so self-conscious, but Nisa was just making it funnier by trying to help her and Loong wouldn't stop laughing.
Casualty #6: Hsien and Yin (Yin again!) Hsien caught the ball and Yin was chasing her. Yin gave up and started running backwards, but their feet tangled and Hsien crashed to the ground. Yin fell on her, Hsien's shoe digging into her thigh. The sisters rolled around on the ground, yelling at each other. Hsien felt like she'd injured her ankle and Yin felt like she had a huge scratch on her thigh.
Then Loong decided to be smart and asked the guy who Nisa was staring at to play with us. He was like PRO. We were so nooby (and we purposely put Nisa and him on the same team ^^) In the end we ajak-ed him to come to breakfast with us. It was pretty weird because he talked so much. And he was one year older than us, only he looked younger.
I'm afraid I've been neglecting this blog. I mean, if I remember correctly, this time last year I was writing every single day.
I'm not a bad blog owner. I just don't have time.
In case you're wondering, I'm writing this from a house in the country that I lived in for 11 years. Still haven't guessed where? Tough.
I don't give answers away that easily on the internet.
And if you think I'm mean because I act like this, tough. If you think I'm always like this in reality, looks like you never really knew me at all then.
So what have I been up to? Nothing much, really. Let's see. Basketball on Monday, today and tomorrow. I have never played so much basketball in my life, and I think I'm getting better. Nothing compared to Kelvin, but he's practically pro.
Anyway, it's more fun when we all suck at it. Damaging each others brains is especially fun (I'm sorry to all the people I've knocked down/hit with the ball/hit with my hands/tripped over so far, but I like my sports. Makes me competitive).
I'm starving.
I've also learnt a hell of alot about my friends, ex-school and generally, life without me in the past 4 days.
Once again, I'm sorry, but sometimes we have to find these things out, even if it means sacrificing reputations. Or even playing pranks.

Another reason to love TV here: We have KBS.
What does that mean?
We have Music Bank! :D
And?
IRIS airs at 9pm today!!! :)
Scream-worthy.

I have a dent in my head.
I'm officially a haphazard in shopping malls. Especially the ones with the Christmas deco sales right now.
Thanks to everyone who told me to go to the hospital (that means you, @Pilot <3) but I was just exaggerating. Though my dad DID say "Hey, there really is a dent!"
*
Everyone wants to go on a "date" with me.
PLEASE stop calling it that.
It's getting a bit creepy. -.-

I'm sitting in a house god-knows-how-many-miles-away-from-school...
But I'm doing Japanese homework.
After this, Maths Methods, then Advanced General Maths, then Visual Communication, then (finally), English.
A chat on paper between Monkey, Reindeer and Spider [codenames used to protect identities]. THIS IS A REAL CONVERSATION. Enjoy :D
[Chat starts.]
Monkey: She ALWAYS talks about Asian countries --"
Reindeer: LOL I know so annoying. I wanna throw a brick in her mouth!
[Spider has been added to this conversation] Spider: Hallo! :)
Monkey: Hello! USE YOUR OWN PENCILS :P I don't remember what the topic is anymore xD [The topic of our new chapter.]
Reindeer: This is going on forever, the longest period ever! Connex? WTF?... A Global Issue... I don't think so.
Monkey: OMFG does she ever take a break... --" And the new Connex is Chinese, shit they came from China, they must be refugees! D: [Teacher constantly goes on about Asian refugees.]
Spider: LOL, please shut up Ms Vinegar!
Monkey: I want to legally kill her. [Teacher goes on about how they legally children in China for the one-child policy.]
Reindeer: Does anyone have a gun?... for myself or for Vinegar, "Neither can live while the other survives."
Monkey: Vinegar is "neither can live" xD
Spider: Okay... :S [Hasn't read Harry Potter.]
Reindeer: I thought she was done, well, getting to the sheet... then she got sidetracked again. Argh. :(
Monkey: Meh, let her talk, we can do what we want and she won't notice xD So we went from population of Melbourne in the future to Indonesian refugees to Prime Ministers shaking hands to Barcelona cameras on beaches to Connex to China's one-child policy to...?
Spider: ... to what baby boomers and kids need. Hehe. I don't think she's even on topic.
Monkey: She's NOT, she's forgotten what the topic is LOL
[Spider gets pissed at Vinegar and starts 'swearing'.]
Reindeer: Hey Spider, hold your temper otherwise you are going to have green ink off your hand...
Spider: Yes, because I'm turning into the Hulk D:
Monkey: LOL! I'm turning into Flubber so I can get out of here :D
[Explains to Reindeer what Flubber is; green, slimy and blobby.]
Reindeer: But you will then be put into quarantine if you are green and slimy. So either way, you're trapped. Maybe I will morph into Rudolph [the Reindeer] and use the excuse of having to help Santa.
Monkey: WHY DO WE GIVE A SHIT ABOUT CHINA. --" [Teacher still going on about one-child policies]. Damn, always trapped. Santa doesn't exist, nyeh nyeh :P
Spider: Vinegar's got a hunched back! Kekeke.
Monkey: LOL, you just noticed? She was talking [non-stop] for 35 minutes, OMFG :O [Teacher stops talking.]
Spider: How long do we have until this lesson ends?
Monkey: About half an hour D:
Spider: God help us DDD:
Reindeer: 1/2 hour left. 30 minutes, 29 min 58 sec, 29 mins 56 sec, ...
[Pause.]
Spider: ...*cricket chirps*...
Monkey: DaBlaDaBlaDaBla. *eyebrow raise LOLLLL. She's talking to herself.
Reindeer: LOL! I don't even think the front rows fully listening! 25 min 32 sec, 25 min 29 sec...
[Reindeer and Spider start chucking pens around.]
Spider: You fail at the pen thing [Monkey].
[Teacher makes a comment about what Melbourne will be like 10 years later.]
Reindeer: 10 uears later... she'll still be talking to some poor unfortunate souls.
Spider: I wonder how long she lectures her children for...
Monkey: LOLLL [Reindeer] was saying something to Vinegar and she kept tallking xD [Teacher malkes comment about getting a phonecall.] She got a phonecall from God! [Reference to Dead Poets Society]
Reindeer: We are sooo... keeping this [chat].
Monkey: I should have timed how long you kept your hand up xD
Spider: Don't you dare scan this, Little Mrs. Facebook :P
Monkey: I sooo should :P No one knows who we're talking about. But no-one can read our writing xD
Spider: Alright then.
Monkey: What's she on about now? I swear she wante dot be a lawyer or something.
Reindeer: Politician?
Monkey: Nah, she probably failed Politics school; doesn't know when to shut up. And too pessimistic :P
Well, I get to see that even singing and dancing superstars make mistakes too. Cracking voices, slipping up on stages.
Hey, we're only human.
But enjoy anyway.
kyuhyun, you're so immature! xD And unprofessional, everyone manages to be soo serious except for you. :D
don't worry hankyung, we still love you. :) Damn your shoes must be slippery.
And if anyone wants to know, after he fell they started again. I know because when I tried to find a full clip of this, there was only one and he didn't fall. So put 2 and 2 together... and you get 5! Doi. hahahhahaha. (I know, I must really stupid).
So.. in the same show, Zhou Mi cracked and Han Geng/Hankyung slipped.
Sigh, what's wrong with these boys? :)
Oh well, it makes good entertainment (I live a sad life). Especially seeing KyuHyun kneeling on the floor, laughing his brains out.
Just a quickie simply because I felt like blogging. I've just noticed that the background behind the 'quotes' part of a post has gone conveniently missing. Looks like I have to replace it with a colour. *Sigh.
Today was the best weather ever to play badminton in the backyard (again!) only my sis isn't home yet... damn them VCE (Victorian Certificate of Education) students and their damned SACs (School Assessed Coursework) that makes them finish at 5pm.. as if finishing at 3.30 every day except Wednesdays isn't bad enough.
I played with - I mean, hit the shuttlecock back to - my mum and it was hilarious because we'd do a few rallies, and then she'd bend down and inspect the grass for weeds. Then when she found one she's pull it out while I inspect myself in the sun room glass.
Welcome to my new layout! I like it better than my old one, because it's not as dark and I can put music on it! And pictures! (Pictures and music are an important aspect of my life.) I have resolved to try to be funnier on my blog but it's pretty hard when there's no one to talk to but yourself. Staring at the white screen with the brown/gray box to type in the randoms.
Not very funny.
So today I spent the whole day trying to fix up this layout. What a way to spend the day, eh? But all worthwhile because I've learnt even more html (yes, there is more html to learn!). I've also learnt that I need to buy a brand new bookshelf so I can buy even more books. I've read all mine at least 10 times. Imagine reading 8 books, one after another, for a whole year. It's like having just one song in your iTunes that's stuck on repeat.
And all questions answered, I am not poor or anything, it's just that we left the whole bookcase back in Malaysia and brought about 3% of it here because it'd be too heavy to bring everything (bookcase included). So when suelyn lent me a book today, I dove right in, forgetting my lifesaving jacket, oxygen tank and even wetsuit.
But who cares, because the book was awesome! So awesome, in fact, that I finished all 261 pages in less than 7 hours. Impressive huh? Of course it cost me most of science and japanese, but I can make up for them. Nerd remember?
I've also learnt how to take out the damned bone from a chicken chop and have now added another reason to my list of 'Why I don't want to become a butcher.' So don't talk to me until you've deboned 4 chicken chops with no help at all and then I might consider you.
Let's review what I've done in the past hour.
cut up rock melon for dessert wash dishes put leftover rice in to plate for tomorrow put more rice into tupperware warmed up soup so it won't go bad put leftover rock melon into fridge cleared out chicken form fridge to make space for rice segregated chicken chops into smaller bags seperated chicken breasts in plastic bag played with chicken drumsticks put all chicken into freezer
and
I would have dried and put away the dishes too only my sister came out of hiding and did them for me. Thank you 姐!
I came up with awesome quotes while I was washing the dishes but they seem to have been washed down the sink along with the soap.
Did I mention that if you did 1000 skips with a rope your calves feel like they've detached itself from your leg for a while? And then the next day you can't stand on your toes coz you feel like you're gonna get cramp. Like how I feel now. *Sigh.
Oh I also learnt how to say forever in 3 different languages, so you can't blame us multilingual asians for being multilingual.
Okayyy, I haven't thought of a title yet, so let's leave it blank for now. I might just name it Untitled or something. (:
So we had a day off today because of Parent-Teacher Interviews (it's extremely different from Malaysia, so I won't go explaining it now, just ask me on msn :P) and I woke up around 10. Didn't mean to, I just happened to wake up then, with the help of the alarm. :D Damn, gone off the point again, if I ever had one to start with.
Oh yea, I do.
Badminton!!! :D
Around 2.40 my sis and I went out to the backyard to play badminton. Yes, our backyard is big enough to play badminton in it :D Anyway, this was only our second time playing there because let's face it, Melbourne's got to be the windiest place in the world. --" Not nice when you actually like playing a sport that involves hitting the lightest weight in the world with a racket. It just so happened that today wasn't windy at ALL. (Thank God!)
We used the same shuttlecock as our first session, and even then it was already beaten up pretty bad. Well, what can you do when you take two professional amateur squash players and make them play badminton? Squash requires some strength fyi.
W-ell, to make an extremely long story filled with laughing and screeching short, the end result was a pretty bashed up shuttlecock. If you could call it a shuttlecock anymore, because it, uhh, doesn't resemble on anymore. Probably because all the feathers are missing? And it' just a skeleton?
Excuse me for a few minutes while I laugh my head off. (I don't say ass, it's too crude in a blog with as much sophistication as mine *wink.)
I think if Lee Chong Wei saw these pictures, he'd cry.
I guess we could say it was almost like strip poker, because as we played longer and longer we started pulling off all the layers of clothing. Haha! I had on my trackies, a t-shirt and a long sleeve shirt on top. My sis had on trackies, a long sleeve, a zip up vest and a jumper. Haha! In the end I had on just my tee and I rolled up my pants to make them three quarter, which is wayy more comfortable for playing badminton in than trousers (I'm not a fan of long pants sometimes).
So yea, that's all except for the fact that we went back out about an hour later and did it all over again! Except for busting up the shuttlecock bit, because we used a new one and were wayyy more careful with it than the other. It felt so heavy though, because before we were playng with an almost botak one xD
AND I've developed a new style to hit the shuttlecock when it's coming right at your head. Can't and won't explain it, except that I've named it the Cinapet Monkey Style. Seeing as it resembles something like it x)
And then when we were getting dinner ready I was doing this stupid praying mantis style kung fu pose and then I kicked. My moccasin flew off my right foot, backflipped over my head and landed on the kitchen counter. It landed right in front of the Kahlua bottle (my mum had just been making tiramisu).
Ok, after like 4 days of solid chatting via facebook, maybe being in Australia isn't so bad after all. I mean I miss my friends and all, but I'm making new ones, and they're all different.
So if I made a table based on replies on facebook, it'd look something like..
Malaysia: Mostly say LOL except for the ones more fluent in English, and we laugh alot without talking about anything at all. We usually have one worded answers and we hardly ever talk back. We're not sarcastic and we usually ask 'How are you?' because we have nothing else to ask.
Australia: We give a hell of a lot of smart answers, we're sarcastic and we still laugh alot but we say more than LOL, and we don't say LOL at every sentence to just fill in the gap. We can go on for hours just being smart with each other and we hardly give one worded answers, we give sentences. And we're all fluent in English, so we can have some really hilarious conversations without going 'Huh...?'
I'm not discriminating here, I'm not even naming specific people or being mean to anyone. I'm just stating that maybe in Malaysia we need to up our smart-ness, give some smart answers, and watch the society crumble beneath us because we'll never move forward with one-worded answers.
I used to think I was pretty sarcastic when I was still in KL, but being here for almost 2 years has made me realise that maybe I'm not that sarcastic after all.
But being here has made me better at it.
So listen up people! Don't just say LOL when you're talking to your friends on msn, give some smart answers, be sarcastic, and maybe you'll find that you'll have longer conversations.
If the person you're talking to can understand you, that is.
Yesterday was out Year 10 Social (which is like a dance)! I really liked my dress but I would have liked a less puffy one, haha. Wore the same one as the one I wore to my cousin's wedding in July, but who cares? Wasn't going to get one just for one night.
You should have heard me yelling at my mum when she started putting make up on me.. I was really only thinking of putting some eyeliner and eyeshadow... but she made me sit down and started putting all the powder on me and I was just screaming "What are you doing?! What's that?! I don't want foundation!!!! No, I don't want blusher!!!!" It was kinda hilarious. Then she (finally!) ut some eyeliner on... and I couldn't stop blinking when she put it on, LOL. I was expecting the worse when I looked in the mirror but I really couldn't see any difference in my skin tone. HAHA!
Then I asked her for more eyeliner (because I'm such a noob I can't put it on myself).
I got to school REALLY EARLY. Yes, it was in school. It wasn't half bad though. I called Christie and Suelyn but they were on hiatus or something, haha. Thank god Mel was in the carpark so we met up outside with Louise because NO ONE WAS THERE YET. -.- I was shivering, either from the cold or I was nervous (?). NO idea.
Then Mel realised she forgot her ticket, HAHAHHAH!!!!! Lucky they had her name down so they let her in. She's damn lucky.
When everyone finally came, it was kinda awkward.. ONE because I don't usually dance in front of other people and if I do, I'd preferably wear trousers or shorts LOL. And TWO... I was just awkward. :D
They announced the prize winners about 3 quarters through the night. Louise won best dancer! I had a feeling she would, since she IS a dancer. :D But of course she had to prove that she deserved it. I left my group and hung out with Cass and Mel's instead and we went crazy. As in jumping up and down, screaming, yelling out the lyrics etc.. and it was FUN.
Then they played 'Single Ladies' by Beyonce, and Louise did the whole dance. What you see in the actual video clip was what we saw live. IT WAS SO AWESOME!!! Lousie should so try out for So You Think You Can Dance... we'd all vote for her, LOL.
So all in all it was a pretty great night.
And I've learnt that I don't NEED to wear lipstick/gloss on my alread red lips. :D
